At Washington Mills, our abrasive grit blasting material, DURALUM Special White, is high purity fused aluminum oxide produced by melting Bayer processed alumina in an electric-arc furnace. The resulting white fused aluminum oxide liquid is then poured into a mold and allowed too freeze and cool. The ingot is then removed from the mold and further processed into finished product by crushing, grinding, high intestity magnetic separation and sifting. The particles are carefully sized into macro and micro grit sizes.
DURALUM Special White has a single crystalline structure – marked by uniformly high strength throughout. The abrasive blasting grains are manufactured in blocky shapes with multiple, sharp cutting edges.
